Closing
The meeting where the sale becomes official. Buyer and seller sign the final documents, money moves, and the deed gets recorded. In some states it happens in person; in others it's mostly electronic.
Every term like this one lights up in the step you're on.

Why a seller cares
Closing is the day the promises become a sale: signatures, money, the deed. Knowing what happens in what order takes the mystery out of a day that most sellers do once or twice in their lives.
Part 2 of 4
A simple example
A Friday closing at the title company. You arrive with ID and keys; the buyer's lender wired the loan that morning.
| In the order it happens | What it is |
|---|---|
| You sign the deed and the settlement statement | Twenty minutes, a notary, a lot of initials |
| The buyer signs their loan and closing documents | Longer; the lender's stack is thicker |
| Funds are received and the deed is sent to record | The sale is done; the title company disburses |
| Your proceeds arrive by wire or check | Same day in most states, after recording |
Closing is a short signing and a long wire. Once the deed records, the home is theirs.

What people get wrong
That closing means the meeting. In many states the deed and the money can move hours or a day after the signatures, and the sale closes when they do.
